Softwareyou buy once.

Monoglyph is a software company in England. We make Monoglyph Audio, a line of plugins that read rhythm as text, and MidiSlayer, a sight-reading trainer for anyone with a MIDI piano. Both are sold outright, and beyond a daily licence check, neither phones home.

What we make.

Monoglyph AudioMonoglyph Audio

Plugins that treat rhythm as a language.

Small, focused audio plugins, each built around one idea. Strand, the first, is a gate you program in one line of pattern notation: Euclid, alternation and probability are a symbol each. Lattice, Cadence and Tick are next.

MidiSlayerMidiSlayer

The sight-reading trainer that judges every note.

Plug in a MIDI piano, play what is on the staff, and get told the truth in real time. Nine training modes, graded reading from Initial to Grade 8, a timed exam mode, and an arcade wing for the days practice needs a scoreboard.

Two lines. One standard.

Everything we sell is held to the same rules, and each one is something you can check.

Bought once
A licence is a purchase, not a subscription. Updates within a major version are free. A new major version is a new product, and buying it is up to you.
Signed and notarised
macOS builds are notarised by Apple and Windows builds carry an Authenticode signature. Your operating system trusts them, and you can check the signature yourself.
Works offline
Licences check in once a day when they can. A dropped connection never turns your software off.
No trackers
No analytics or trackers in the apps. No cookies on the sites, so there is no banner to click.
Tested where it runs
Plugins pass pluginval at its strictest level and Apple's auval on every release. The app builds, signs and ships for all three platforms from one pipeline, with updates delivered in place.
Supported by the engineers
Support email lands with the people who wrote the code, not a queue. Replies within a day or two.

The name is the method.

mono: one idea per product, carried all the way through. Not a suite, not a platform, not a bundle of things that half-work together.

glyph: the smallest unit of meaning. A character in a codebase, a note on a staff, a symbol in a pattern. Software is thousands of them, and they all matter.

Outside work, occasionally.

Most of our time goes into the products. Between releases we take on a small amount of client work, usually in one of four shapes.

  • Build something

Software that needs to exist: a desktop app, a web platform, the pipeline behind it. From first sketch to signed, auto-updating release, unglamorous parts included.

Desktop apps, web apps and sites, real-time audio and MIDI, CI/CD and cloud.

  • Untangle something

A codebase nobody trusts, an architecture call that keeps getting deferred, a quiet “is this a terrible idea?” Audits, system design, and a second pair of eyes that has seen things.

Code audits, architecture review, technical due diligence, second opinions.

  • Automate something

The report someone assembles by hand every Monday, the spreadsheet that is secretly a database, the five tools that refuse to talk to each other. Scripts, integrations and small internal tools that take the chore off a person.

Workflow automation, integrations and APIs, scripting, LLM-assisted pipelines.

  • Explore something

A risky idea made testable in days, AI included where it genuinely helps and skipped where it doesn’t. With an honest report at the end, even when the honest report is “don’t”.

Prototypes, feasibility spikes, LLM integration, internal tools.

  • Not sure which shape yours is? Describe it in an email and you'll get a straight answer, not a sales call.

Say hello.

Email works best. For help with a product, its own site is the faster route.
